This is a new group functional role that manages a wide range of supplier procurement activities and cross-functional relationships ensuring best practice purchasing techniques are applied at all times; ensuring objectives relating to quality, cost, delivery, inventory and responsiveness are met. Procurement activities will include supplier management, inventory entitlement, commercial management, order book management, and supplier performance management. The job holder supports strategic initiatives and financially significant external relationships impacting financial, operational, and customer metrics.

 

Main Role Accountabilities

§  Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost, delivery, inventory and responsiveness targets are achieved in line with our Best-in-Class ethos.

§  Manage and support contractual obligations with our international supplier base.

§  Negotiate preferred air, freight, courier and charter rates by maximising our global purchasing power.  

§  Ensure compliance with government laws and regulations and company policies and processes.

§  Apply experience and skills to understand risk and proactively manage potential supplier performance issues before issues escalate into a larger crisis. Work with major suppliers to discover and exploit opportunities for continuous improvement, performance improvement, savings, and other efficiencies.

Key Skills

·       Aerospace/defence industry experience with minimum 5 years’ within procurement of supply chain logistics .

·       Experienced in team management and department transformation, i.e., applying continuous improvement techniques, objective setting, professional and technical development, appraisal programmes.

·       Experience of UK/international contract review and supply chain impacts. Specifically in the negotiation of airline rates. 

·       Extensive exposure to UK, International markets and logistics.

·       KPI management.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience.

·       Experience within the  aerospace logistics industry

·       Applicable degree, MCIPS with experience of contract development and management, ideally with international contracts experience.
